A series of drug awareness workshops will be held in July to help parents and carers know where to look for support and which steps to take if they suspect young people are using drugs or becoming involved in gangs involved in drugs.

The FREE workshops, organised and delivered by Safer North Hampshire, will be held on the following dates:

• 15th July, Hart District Council offices
• 16th July, Rushmoor Borough Council offices
• 18th July, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council offices

The sessions will all be held from 7-8.30pm.

A variety of information will be on offer during the workshops, including how to spot the signs that a young person is using drugs, the risks of drug-use, and how to help young people and vulnerable adults avoid getting caught up in drug gangs who may exploit them by using them to smuggle and sell drugs across county lines.

Cllr Simon Bound, chairman of Safer North Hampshire, said: “With the summer holidays coming up, it seems sensible to hold these workshops to give parents useful information so they are better able to spot any warning signs that their young people are becoming involved in drugs.”
