Off licences in Aldershot and Farnborough have been given the all clear after surprise checks on under age alcohol sales.
Officers from Hampshire Constabulary and Rushmoor Borough Council carried out test purchases using a 17-year-old female volunteer on 19 premises on Friday, 10 August. All of them refused to sell her alcohol.
This included a number of premises that had previously failed tests and for which Rushmoor Borough Council officers had subsequently provided training and worked with to improve their processes.
Councillor Maurice Sheehan, Rushmoor Borough Council’s Cabinet member for Operational Services, said: “We are pleased to see that businesses in both of our towns remain wary about selling alcohol to anyone who looks underage.
“Our officers, along with those from Hampshire Constabulary and Trading Standards, have been working hard to root out those businesses who flout the law and this is clearly making a difference.”
