North town councillor Frank Rust has been chosen as Mayor of Rushmoor for 2020/21.

The appointment of Councillor Rust as Mayor-elect, and Rowhill councillor Charles Choudhary as Deputy Mayor-elect, was approved by a meeting of the Council on Thursday 20 February.

Councillor Rust was first elected to Rushmoor Borough Council in 1994 and has served as a councillor for 22 years. He previously served as Mayor of Rushmoor in 2003/4.

He was previously the Chairman of the Human Resources Sub-Committee and Vice Chairman of the Standards and Audit Committee.

He is currently a member of the Development Management Committee and Licensing, Audit and General Purposes Committee.

Outside of the council, he is a Chairman of Rushmoor in Bloom and of the Aldershot & Farnborough Festival of Music and Art.

Councillor Rust said: “I’m very proud to have been chosen as Rushmoor’s new Mayor and I’m really looking forward to an exciting year getting out and about in Aldershot and Farnborough, meeting some fantastic people and organisations.

“It’s a tremendous privilege to be able to serve the people of Aldershot and Farnborough as Mayor. I’m very grateful to the residents who elected me so I could be given this amazing opportunity for a second time.”
